The VALUE COLLECTION XNB01055 is a Schedule 80 black steel pipe nipple designed for use in threaded pipe assemblies across plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping systems. Measuring 1/8 inch nominal pipe size at 5-1/2 inches in length, this nipple is manufactured to ASTM A53 and ASTM A106 material standards with seamless and welded construction options. The black finish coating is standard for non-potable and gas piping applications. Threads conform to ANSI B1.20.1 and ASME B1.20.1 for reliable engagement with standard NPT fittings. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this nipple where a short, close-tolerance threaded extension is required in a Schedule 80 system.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial gas lines, steam systems, compressed air lines, and other applications requiring the heavier wall thickness of Schedule 80 pipe. The 1/8 inch nominal size is commonly found in pilot gas lines, instrument takeoffs, and small-bore branch connections. Its lead-free designation makes it appropriate for installations where regulatory compliance requires lead-free components. The black finish is standard for natural gas and propane distribution piping in accordance with applicable mechanical codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component compatible with standard 1/8 inch NPT threaded fittings and Schedule 80 piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the applicable edition of the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off gas or fluid supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before making up the joint. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as this can crack fittings or distort threads.
