The VALUE COLLECTION VA1040PS is a 3/8-16 hex nut machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a bright, uncoated finish. It features a right-hand thread pattern conforming to the UN thread standard, with a 9/16-inch across-flats dimension and a height of approximately 21/64 inches. The 6061-T6 alloy grade provides a strong-to-weight ratio well suited for structural and mechanical fastening applications where steel hardware would add unnecessary mass or pose a corrosion risk. This nut is installed by mechanics, maintenance technicians, millwrights, and fabricators working across a wide range of industrial and light structural assemblies.
This hex nut is appropriate for use in applications where aluminum fasteners are specified — including aerospace-adjacent fabrication, marine hardware assemblies, recreational equipment, electronic enclosures, and general light-duty structural connections. The uncoated bright finish is suitable for environments where a secondary coating or anodizing will be applied downstream, or where bare aluminum is acceptable per project specifications. It is not rated to military specifications and should not be substituted into mil-spec fastener applications.
Designed as a standard 3/8-16 UN-threaded hex nut for use with any 3/8-16 threaded bolt or stud in commercial and industrial fastener assemblies requiring aluminum hardware.
Installation is performed by hand-threading the nut onto a 3/8-16 bolt or stud, followed by torquing with a standard 9/16-inch open-end, box-end, or socket wrench. Avoid mixing aluminum nuts with steel fasteners in highly corrosive or galvanic environments without appropriate isolation measures. Do not over-torque aluminum fasteners, as the alloy is more susceptible to galling and thread stripping than steel equivalents. Consult the applicable project or equipment specification for appropriate torque ranges for this alloy and thread size.
