The VALUE COLLECTION TEV80229 is a Dash 229 PTFE-encapsulated Viton O-ring designed for demanding sealing applications where chemical resistance and wide temperature range are required. The ring measures 2.375 inches inside diameter by 2.625 inches outside diameter with a 0.125-inch cross-section thickness. A seamless FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) Teflon encapsulation fully encloses a Viton or silicone elastomer core, delivering the chemical inertness of solid PTFE combined with the elasticity and compression recovery of an elastomeric core. It carries an 80-durometer hardness rating, classified as hard. This part is sold individually and installed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, chemical process mechanics, and industrial maintenance trades.
The TEV80229 is suited for static and dynamic sealing in systems that handle aggressive chemicals, solvents, acids, or elevated-temperature fluids where standard rubber O-rings would degrade. Typical installation scenarios include pump housings, valve bonnets, flanged fittings, and fluid-handling assemblies in commercial and industrial settings. The operating temperature range spans from -75 degrees F to 400 degrees F, making it viable for both cryogenic-adjacent and high-heat service conditions. The round cross-section profile seats into standard Dash 229 O-ring grooves without modification.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service-stock O-ring for any application requiring a Dash 229 cross-section O-ring groove in chemical-resistant or high-temperature sealing service.
Shut down and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any O-ring seal. Inspect the groove for scoring, corrosion, or debris before seating the new ring. No lubrication is required with PTFE-encapsulated O-rings in most chemical service applications; confirm compatibility of any lubricant with the encapsulation material before use. Installation should be performed by a qualified tradesperson following applicable system service codes and manufacturer torque specifications for the mating hardware.
