The VALUE COLLECTION TEV80221 is a Dash 221 PTFE-encapsulated Viton O-ring designed for sealing applications that demand resistance to aggressive chemicals and wide temperature swings. The ring measures 1.438 inches inside diameter and 1.688 inches outside diameter, with a 0.125-inch (1/8 inch) thick round cross section. Construction consists of a seamless, uniform FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) Teflon encapsulation that completely encloses a core of either silicone or Viton elastomer. This design delivers the chemical and temperature resistance of solid PTFE while retaining the elasticity and recovery properties of an elastomeric core. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals are the typical installers.
This O-ring suits static and dynamic sealing applications where standard Buna-N or EPDM rings would degrade due to chemical exposure, high heat, or low-temperature cycling. Rated for service from -75 degrees F to 400 degrees F, it is well suited for use in chemical process lines, aggressive fluid handling, high-temperature steam or hot-water systems, and HVAC refrigerant or process piping where a resilient, chemically inert seal is required. The round cross section and Dash 221 sizing make it a direct drop-in for any standard 221-dash groove.
Designed as a standard Dash 221 O-ring replacement for any application that calls out Dash 221 groove dimensions (1.438 inches ID, 1.688 inches OD, 0.125-inch cross section) in PTFE-encapsulated or FEP-encapsulated Viton construction.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, pipefitter, or HVAC technician following applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. De-pressurize and drain or purge the system fully before removing the old seal and installing the replacement O-ring. Inspect the groove for nicks, burrs, or chemical damage before seating the new ring; a damaged groove will prevent a proper seal. Avoid using petroleum-based lubricants on PTFE-encapsulated rings; use only lubricants rated compatible with PTFE and the service fluid.
