The VALUE COLLECTION TCN21025D is a solid carbide turning insert designed for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured to the ANSI insert code TPGH321 and ISO insert code TPGH160304, this insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle and an 11-degree positive relief angle. The base carbide substrate is coated with titanium nitride (TiN) for improved wear resistance and surface hardness. The corner radius measures 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch) and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.375 inches (3/8 inch). It is held in the toolholder by a screw-clamp method and is suited for medium to finish turning operations on steel and stainless materials.
This insert is intended for use in metal turning applications where a positive-rake, screw-lock toolholder accepting TPGH-style inserts is in service. The TCN55 grade with TiN coating is appropriate for machining steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpiece materials at moderate cutting speeds. Typical applications include OD turning, facing, and light profiling on CNC turning centers in job shop and production machining environments. Inserts are sold individually but carry a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for screw-lock TPGH-style turning toolholders accepting a 321 ANSI size insert with a 0.177-inch hole diameter and positive clearance geometry.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat and torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret indexed to a safe position before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert. Do not use a worn or damaged insert seat, as improper seating can cause insert fracture during cutting.
