The VALUE COLLECTION T51NE149 is a nylon insert hex lock nut designed for secure fastening in applications where vibration resistance is critical. Threaded 7/8-9 UNC with right-hand thread direction, this nut uses an internal nylon collar that deforms around mating threads to resist loosening under dynamic loads. Manufactured from Grade 5 steel with a zinc trivalent chromate finish, it provides corrosion resistance suitable for general industrial and mechanical assemblies. At 63/64 inches high and 1-1/4 inches across the flats, it fits standard hex tooling and works with conventional 7/8-inch bolt and stud hardware used by millwrights, maintenance mechanics, and general contractors.
This hex lock nut is suited for structural, mechanical, and equipment assembly work where UNC-threaded fasteners require a prevailing-torque locking solution. Typical applications include machinery mounting, conveyor frames, steel fabrication, HVAC equipment bases, and general-purpose fastening in both shop and field environments. The zinc trivalent chromate finish meets modern environmental standards as a hexavalent-chromium-free alternative, making it appropriate for facilities with RoHS-aligned procurement requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or stock fastener for any assembly using 7/8-9 UNC inch-series threaded bolts or studs requiring a prevailing-torque nylon insert lock nut.
Installation is performed by maintenance mechanics, millwrights, or general tradespeople using a standard 1-1/4 inch hex socket or open-end wrench. Ensure mating bolt or stud threads are clean and free of damage before installation. Nylon insert lock nuts are single-use by design — the nylon collar deforms during first installation and may not provide full locking performance if reused. Do not apply thread-locking compounds in addition to the nylon insert, as this can prevent proper torque readings.
