The VALUE COLLECTION STC1206 is a cobalt T-slot cutter designed for milling T-slots in machine tables, fixtures, and workholding components. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this cutter handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials at elevated cutting temperatures where standard HSS tooling loses hardness. The cutter measures 1.5 inches in diameter with a 0.375-inch cutting width and runs on a 1-inch shank diameter, producing clean T-slot profiles in a single pass. The 8-tooth staggered configuration reduces chatter and chip load per tooth, supporting consistent surface finish. Overall length is 5.3125 inches. Machinists and toolroom operators use this cutter on vertical mills and knee mills to produce T-slots that accept standard T-nuts and fixture hardware.
This T-slot cutter is suited for job shops, toolrooms, and production environments where T-slots are machined into steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. The M42 cobalt grade provides increased red hardness compared to M2 HSS, making it a practical choice for harder workpiece materials or interrupted cuts. The 1-inch shank diameter is compatible with standard R8 collets, shell mill adapters, and straight-shank toolholders commonly found on manual and CNC vertical mills.
Designed for use on vertical milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers equipped with toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight shank diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank firmly in the collet or toolholder to the manufacturer-specified drawbar torque for your machine. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material, and verify spindle speed and feed rate against published cutting data for cobalt HSS tooling before beginning the cut.
