The VALUE COLLECTION ST0730104 is a bridge reamer designed to enlarge and align holes in structural steel, fabrication work, and heavy mechanical assemblies. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 1-1/16 inch diameter cutting head and a 7-3/8 inch spiral flute length for efficient chip evacuation during through-hole operations. The left-hand spiral with right-hand cutting action pulls chips away from the work surface and reduces chatter. A No. 3 Morse Taper shank seats directly into compatible drill presses, lathes, or magnetic drills without an additional chuck. Machinists, ironworkers, and structural fabricators reach for this tool when standard twist drills leave a hole undersized or misaligned.
This reamer is suited for production and repair applications in structural steel erection, bridge fabrication, heavy equipment manufacturing, and general machine shop work. The 5-flute geometry distributes cutting load evenly, making it appropriate for hand-feed and power-feed operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 12 inch overall length provides clearance when working in confined structural members or deep bolt-hole pass-through situations common in steel construction. The 13/16 inch small-end diameter allows entry into pre-drilled pilot holes before the full cutting diameter engages.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, and magnetic drill units equipped with a No. 3 Morse Taper spindle socket. Fits standard MT3 tooling adapters and sleeves widely used in machine shops and structural fabrication equipment.
Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the Morse Taper shank. Clean both the shank and the spindle socket of chips and oil before inserting to ensure full taper contact and prevent fretting. A licensed machinist or qualified ironworker should verify proper feed rate and cutting fluid application before running the reamer at operating speed. Do not force the taper with a hammer strike directly on the flute body; use a proper drift through the spindle drift slot to eject the tool safely.
