The VALUE COLLECTION ST0230112 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed to finish-ream holes to a precise 1-3/16 inch (1.1875 inch decimal) diameter. Spiral fluting in the right-hand direction promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces chatter during the cut. The reamer seats in a No. 3 Morse Taper (3MT) spindle, making it compatible with drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a matching taper socket. Machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople use this type of reamer as a final sizing pass to bring a drilled or bored hole to finished tolerance. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for HSS reamers used on ferrous and non-ferrous stock alike.
This reamer is suited for machine-shop and manufacturing environments where holes require a clean, dimensionally accurate finish. Typical applications include bearing-seat preparation, dowel-pin hole finishing, and precision bushing installation in both production and jobber settings. At 11 inches overall length with a 2-7/8 inch flute length, it reaches into moderate-depth bores without sacrificing rigidity. It is not configured as a dowel-pin reamer and is not an over- or under-size variant, so it cuts directly to the nominal 1-3/16 inch diameter.
Designed for use in drill presses, engine lathes, and milling machines fitted with a No. 3 Morse Taper (3MT) spindle or taper socket adapter. Suitable for reaming to a nominal 1-3/16 inch finished diameter in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists or toolmakers — power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the taper shank. Clean the 3MT taper socket and the shank with a lint-free cloth before insertion to ensure full contact and prevent runout. Feed rate and spindle speed should be set conservatively relative to drilling speeds for the workpiece material; excessive speed or feed will shorten tool life and degrade hole finish. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being reamed.
