The VALUE COLLECTION ST0140144 is a chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to precise diameter tolerances in metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features 12 straight flutes and a right-hand cutting direction. The reamer measures 1.6875 inches (1-11/16 inches) in diameter, carries a 4-inch flute length, and has an overall length of 13-1/2 inches. The 4MT Morse taper shank seats directly into compatible lathe tailstocks, milling machine spindles, or drill press chucks equipped with a Morse taper socket. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians rely on this type of reamer for achieving close-tolerance, smooth-bore finishes in production and repair environments.
This chucking reamer is suited for use in machine shop operations where a rotating spindle drives the tool — typically on engine lathes, knee mills, or drill presses. The 4MT shank makes it appropriate for mid-size to large machine tool spindles. It is used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where hole diameter accuracy and surface finish quality are critical. The 12-flute straight configuration supports stable cutting with minimal chatter across a range of feed and speed conditions common in job-shop and production settings.
Designed for use in machine tool spindles and tailstocks accepting a No. 4 Morse taper (4MT) socket, including engine lathes, drill presses, and milling machines with appropriately sized spindle bores.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists; power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the taper shank. Clean the taper shank and spindle socket thoroughly before insertion to ensure full seating and prevent runout. Use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve bore finish. Never use a chucking reamer to remove more stock than the recommended finishing allowance — rough-bore the hole first to leave only a light reaming allowance.
