The VALUE COLLECTION SS6X08016-100BX is an M8 x 1.25 x 16 mm cup point set screw manufactured from 18-8 austenitic stainless steel, Grade A2. It conforms to DIN 916, the metric standard for hexagon socket set screws with cup point geometry. The 4 mm hex key drive allows precise torque application in confined spaces. The cup point tip bites into the mating surface to resist axial and rotational movement without requiring a through-hole. Fabricated from Grade A2 stainless steel, this fastener provides good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive and humid environments. It is suited for mechanical assemblies where a flush or sub-flush fastener is required and where standard carbon steel would corrode prematurely.
This set screw is used in a wide range of industrial and mechanical applications including shaft-to-hub retention, collar locking, and adjustment of machine components. Typical installations include pump assemblies, HVAC equipment shafts, conveyor systems, and light structural hardware. The metric M8 x 1.25 thread pitch and 16 mm overall length make it a common size for mid-range shaft diameters encountered in trade and maintenance work. A licensed mechanic, millwright, or maintenance technician will typically specify and install this fastener during equipment assembly or repair.
Designed as a DIN 916-compliant metric set screw suitable for M8 x 1.25 threaded bores in shafts, collars, hubs, and mechanical assemblies requiring a cup point headless fastener.
Install using a calibrated 4 mm hex key or Allen driver. Ensure the threaded bore is clean and free of debris before threading the screw in by hand to avoid cross-threading. Power down and de-energize any machinery before servicing fasteners on rotating components. Do not use impact drivers on set screws, as over-torquing can damage the hex socket or strip the thread.
