The VALUE COLLECTION SS6X05030-050BX is a cup-point set screw machined to DIN 916 standards. It features a metric M5 x 0.80 thread with an overall length of 30 mm and is driven by a 2.5 mm hex key. The screw is manufactured from Grade 18-8 austenitic stainless steel, conforming to Grade A2, offering solid corrosion resistance in moisture-exposed or mildly corrosive environments. Cup-point geometry bites into shaft material to resist rotation and axial movement without a secondary locking element. Electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and mechanical contractors routinely reach for this style of fastener when securing collars, pulleys, or shaft-mounted components in trade assemblies.
This set screw is suited for use in residential and light commercial mechanical assemblies where a compact, headless fastener is required. Typical applications include motor shaft collars, shaft couplings, hand-wheel retention, and other metric-thread applications calling for a DIN 916-compliant fastener. The stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for installations where mild corrosion resistance is needed, such as damp mechanical rooms, pool equipment enclosures, or outdoor electrical panel accessories.
Designed as a DIN 916-compliant replacement or addition for any assembly requiring an M5 x 0.80 metric cup-point set screw with a 2.5 mm hex drive.
A licensed mechanic or qualified trade technician should de-energize and lock out any equipment before installing or adjusting set screws on rotating or driven components. A calibrated 2.5 mm hex key is required for proper engagement; avoid using worn or undersized drivers that can strip the socket. Do not overtighten, as excessive torque on small-diameter stainless fasteners can cause galling or thread seizure; use an anti-galling lubricant such as a copper-based compound when assembling stainless-to-stainless contacts.
