The VALUE COLLECTION SS5X06020-050BX is a dog point set screw with a metric M6 x 1.00 thread and an overall length of 20 mm. Manufactured from 18-8 austenitic stainless steel (Grade A2), it delivers solid corrosion resistance and strength suitable for general industrial fastening applications. The dog point tip seats into a mating hole or groove on a shaft, providing positive location and resistance to rotational slippage. Drive is a 3 mm internal hex (Allen key). The plain finish leaves the stainless alloy exposed. This fastener conforms to DIN 915. It is installed by machinists, maintenance mechanics, and assembly technicians across a wide range of equipment and fixture applications.
Dog point set screws of this type are used where a shaft or cylindrical workpiece must be positively located against axial or rotational movement. Common applications include shaft collars, pulleys, couplings, knobs, and mechanical assemblies where the dog point engages a pre-drilled detent or flat on the mating shaft. The M6 metric thread size fits a range of standard metric threaded housings and collars. The A2 stainless steel construction is appropriate for environments with mild moisture exposure or where iron contamination from carbon steel fasteners must be avoided.
Designed as a DIN 915 dog point set screw for use in any standard M6 x 1.00 metric threaded housing, collar, or fixture requiring a dog point style engagement.
Installation is performed with a 3 mm hex key; ensure the key is fully seated before applying torque to avoid rounding the drive socket. The mating shaft or workpiece should have a pre-drilled detent, flat, or groove sized to accept the dog point diameter before the screw is driven home. De-energize or lock out any rotating or powered equipment before servicing fasteners on shafts or couplings in accordance with applicable LOTO procedures. Avoid cross-threading by confirming thread alignment before driving the screw.
