The VALUE COLLECTION SS5X05006-050BX is a metric dog point set screw designed for precision clamping and positioning applications in mechanical assemblies. It is threaded M5 x 0.80 and measures 6 mm in overall length, conforming to DIN 915 standards. The dog point tip extends beyond the thread end to engage a drilled hole or indent in a mating shaft, resisting rotation and providing accurate axial location. Manufactured from 18-8 stainless steel, Austenitic Grade A2, it offers solid corrosion resistance in moderately harsh environments. A 3.50 mm hex key drive is required for installation. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers are the typical end users.
This set screw is suited for use in shaft collars, shaft couplings, pulleys, gears, and similar rotating or sliding components where a positive-stop or anti-rotation feature is required. The dog point design is particularly common in assemblies where the screw must engage a pre-drilled recess in a shaft, allowing for repeatable positioning and reduced surface damage compared to a cup or cone point. The M5 x 0.80 metric thread fits standard M5-threaded through-holes or set screw ports machined to DIN tolerances. This fastener is packaged individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 50 pieces.
Designed for standard M5 x 0.80 threaded set screw ports machined to DIN 915 tolerances in shaft collars, couplings, pulleys, and similar mechanical components requiring a dog point fastener.
Installation is performed by mechanical technicians or machinists using a 3.50 mm hex key or Allen driver. Ensure the mating shaft recess is properly drilled and deburred before driving the screw to avoid galling the stainless threads. De-energize and lock out all rotating equipment before servicing any assembly containing this fastener. Avoid over-torquing, as stainless steel fasteners are susceptible to galling; applying an appropriate anti-galling compound is a common field practice.
