The VALUE COLLECTION SNFI5125-010BX is a slotted hex lock nut designed to secure threaded fastener assemblies against loosening caused by vibration and torque. Manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a bright uncoated finish, this nut conforms to UNF (Unified National Fine) thread standards with a 1-1/4-12 thread size and right-hand thread direction. It measures 1-1/16 inches in height and 1-7/8 inches across flats. The slotted design accommodates a cotter pin or safety wire for positive locking in mechanical and structural applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, millwrights, and general mechanical trades use this type of fastener in assemblies where joint integrity must be maintained under dynamic loading conditions.
This slotted hex lock nut is suited for use in industrial, mechanical, and general-purpose threaded assemblies requiring a fine-thread UNF fastener. Typical applications include shaft retention, bearing retention, and structural bolted connections where vibration resistance is critical. The uncoated finish makes it appropriate for dry or lightly oiled environments. It is sold and packaged individually, making it practical for single-unit replacement or small-quantity maintenance work in shop and field settings alike.
Designed as a standard UNF replacement slotted hex lock nut for threaded assemblies using a 1-1/4-12 inch thread size. Verify thread pitch, diameter, and material requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by mechanical and maintenance trades using standard hex wrenches or open-end wrenches sized to the 1-7/8 inch across-flats dimension. Always ensure mating threads are clean, undamaged, and properly aligned before engagement. After torquing to the assembly specification, align the slots with the cotter pin hole in the bolt or shaft and insert an appropriately sized cotter pin or safety wire to complete the locking function. Do not reuse cotter pins once removed.
