The VALUE COLLECTION SNFI2200-010BX is a slotted lock nut designed for heavy fastening applications requiring a secure, vibration-resistant connection. Manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this nut features a 2-12 thread size per UNF (Unified National Fine) standards. It measures 1-23/32 inches in height with a 3-inch width across flats, making it suited for large-diameter fastening work. The slotted design accepts a cotter pin or safety wire through the mating bolt to prevent loosening under dynamic loads. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and industrial assemblers typically install this type of hardware in mechanical and structural assemblies.
This slotted lock nut is used in applications where vibration or cyclic loading could cause conventional nuts to back off. The 2-12 UNF thread size and right-hand thread direction make it compatible with standard UNF-threaded bolts and studs of the same diameter. Typical install scenarios include heavy equipment maintenance, large mechanical assemblies, and industrial machinery where positive locking via cotter pin or safety wire is required. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for indoor or protected environments where surface coating is not a specification requirement.
Designed as a standard UNF slotted lock nut for use with 2-12 right-hand threaded bolts and studs in inch-measurement mechanical assemblies.
Install using a wrench sized to a 3-inch width across flats; ensure the mating bolt or stud is the same thread size and direction before installation. After torquing to the assembly specification, align the nut slots with the cotter pin hole in the bolt and insert an appropriately sized cotter pin or safety wire to secure the nut. Always de-energize and lock out any equipment before performing fastener service on live machinery. Verify thread engagement and inspect for thread damage prior to final tightening.
