The VALUE COLLECTION SNFI2100-010BX is a slotted hex lock nut machined to a 1-14 UNF thread specification in Grade 2 steel with a bright, uncoated finish. It measures 55/64 inches in height and 1-1/2 inches across the flats, with a right-hand thread direction. Lock nuts of this type are used where vibration resistance and positive retention are required without relying on thread friction alone. The slotted design accepts a cotter pin or safety wire through a corresponding drilled fastener, providing a mechanical anti-rotation lock. Licensed trades and maintenance professionals in HVAC, plumbing, and industrial equipment service reach for this nut when a standard hex nut is not sufficient to maintain clamp load under dynamic loads.
This slotted lock nut is suited for general industrial and mechanical assembly applications where inch-series fasteners are specified. Common installation scenarios include shaft-end retention on rotating equipment, linkage assemblies, and structural connections calling for a 1-14 UNF coarse-fine thread fastener. The uncoated finish is appropriate for dry indoor environments or applications where a topcoat will be applied at assembly. It is sold in multiples of 10 units minimum order quantity with a package quantity of 1.
Designed for use with any 1-14 UNF externally threaded fastener or shaft end in inch-series mechanical assemblies conforming to UNF thread standards.
Installation is performed by maintenance mechanics, millwrights, or licensed tradespeople using a standard open-end or box wrench sized to 1-1/2 inches across the flats. De-energize and lock out all equipment before servicing fasteners on rotating or pressurized assemblies. After torquing to the required clamp load per the equipment manufacturer's specification, align the nearest slot with the cotter pin hole and install an appropriately sized cotter pin or safety wire to prevent back-off. Do not reuse a cotter pin once removed.
