The VALUE COLLECTION SMPFI0-801750-100BX is a No. 8 flat head Phillips drive sheet metal screw designed for fastening thin metal panels, brackets, and sheet goods in HVAC, electrical, and general sheet metal fabrication work. At 1-3/4 inches overall length, this Type AB point screw is built from Grade 2 steel with a zinc finish that provides basic corrosion resistance in dry to mildly humid environments. The flat head profile sits flush with or below the surface of the workpiece, making it well suited for applications where a low-profile fastener is required. This box contains 100 screws.
These screws see regular use in HVAC ductwork assembly, electrical enclosure fabrication, light-gauge metal framing, and equipment panel attachment. The Phillips drive works with standard power drivers and hand screwdrivers, making it practical for high-volume production or field service work. The Type AB point is self-tapping on light-gauge sheet metal, eliminating the need to pre-tap holes in most thin-metal applications. Suitable for residential and light commercial installations where a standard zinc-plated steel fastener meets the job requirement.
Designed as a standard No. 8 Type AB sheet metal screw suitable for light-gauge steel panels, ductwork flanges, electrical enclosures, and similar thin-metal assemblies where a flat head Phillips fastener is specified.
Sheet metal screws are typically installed by HVAC technicians, electricians, and sheet metal fabricators using a Phillips bit in a power driver or hand screwdriver. Verify the gauge and material of the workpiece before driving to avoid stripping the Type AB point or distorting thin panels. Do not overtorque — flat head screws in light-gauge sheet metal are susceptible to countersink damage if driven past flush. Follow applicable code requirements for fastener spacing on ductwork and enclosure panels.
