The VALUE COLLECTION SM26N06 is a size 6 taper pin reamer ground from high-speed steel and intended for precision hole enlarging, hole finishing, and hole shaping in metal workpieces. The reamer features a helical flute geometry with a right-hand cut and left-hand spiral, a combination that improves chip evacuation and surface finish in through-hole applications. The small end diameter is 0.2773 inches and the large end diameter is 0.3540 inches, following a 1:48 taper rate standard for taper pin work. Overall length is 5.4375 inches with a flute length of 3.6875 inches. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this style of reamer to prepare taper pin holes to final dimension before pin installation.
This reamer is suited for general-purpose taper pin reaming operations in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for use in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a coated tool is not required. The straight shank measures 0.3594 inches (23/64 inches) in diameter, compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. It is used wherever a size 6 taper pin hole must be brought to a precise, finished dimension for secure pin fitment in shafts, hubs, and mechanical assemblies.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock reamer for size 6 taper pin applications. Compatible with standard drill press, milling machine, and lathe tailstock setups equipped with a chuck or collet accepting a 0.3594-inch straight shank.
This reamer is installed by a machinist or tool-and-die technician. Secure the workpiece firmly before reaming and ensure the spindle and reamer are properly aligned to the existing hole to prevent bell-mouthing. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Never use a reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or pre-bore the hole close to final size before finishing with the reamer.
