The VALUE COLLECTION SM25N12 is a No. 12 taper pin reamer designed for hole enlarging, hole finishing, and hole shaping in precision machining and fabrication work. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers consistent performance on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in general-purpose applications. The spiral flute geometry with a left-hand spiral and right-hand cut provides smooth chip evacuation and reduces chatter during the cutting pass. With a 10-inch flute length and an overall length of 13.625 inches, it is suited for deep-reach taper pin fitting operations requiring a 1:48 taper rate.
This reamer is used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments where taper pins must be precisely fitted into bored holes. The straight shank measures 0.875 inches in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill press chucks and milling machine collets of appropriate size. Typical applications include fitting No. 12 taper pins in shaft assemblies, linkages, and mechanical fixtures where a secure, removable interference fit is required. Installation is performed by machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance mechanics working to close tolerances.
Designed as a general-purpose No. 12 taper pin reamer for use with standard taper pin tooling setups where a 1:48 taper rate and a 0.875-inch straight shank are required.
This reamer should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or maintenance mechanics familiar with taper pin reaming procedures. Secure the straight shank firmly in a drill press, lathe tailstock, or milling machine collet before use, and verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling or inspecting the reamed hole.
