The VALUE COLLECTION SM1900028 is a straight-flute hand reamer designed for precision finishing of drilled or bored holes to tight tolerances. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent cutting performance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The reamer measures 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) in diameter, features 8 flutes for smooth material removal, and has a 2-3/4 inch flute length within a 5-1/2 inch overall length. It cuts in a right-hand direction and accepts a straight shank. Machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians use this tool to bring undersized holes to final dimension with a precise, clean finish.
This hand reamer is suited for light-duty production and maintenance environments where hole sizing accuracy is critical. Typical applications include finishing through-holes in metal workpieces, fitting close-tolerance pins or fasteners, and correcting holes that were drilled slightly undersized. The straight flute design works well in applications where chip control is straightforward and material removal per pass is moderate. It is commonly used in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and field maintenance settings across the plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical trades.
Designed as a standard straight-shank hand reamer for use with conventional tap wrenches or reamer braces in manual reaming operations on drilled or bored holes requiring a 7/16 inch finished diameter.
Hand reaming should be performed by a qualified machinist or tradesperson familiar with hole finishing techniques. Always secure the workpiece firmly before reaming and apply appropriate cutting fluid to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Use steady, even pressure and rotate only in the cutting direction — reversing rotation can damage flute edges. Inspect the reamer for wear or chipping before each use.
