The VALUE COLLECTION SM1500022 is a cobalt steel chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. With a 11/32 inch (0.3438 inch decimal) cutting diameter and a 6-inch overall length, this reamer removes minimal stock to bring drilled or bored holes to a tight, accurate final diameter. The 1-1/2 inch spiral flute length and six right-hand spiral flutes work together to produce a clean, smooth bore finish while efficiently evacuating chips. The bright, uncoated cobalt steel construction resists heat generated during cutting, making it suitable for harder ferrous materials where high-speed steel tooling may wear prematurely. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users.
This chucking reamer is used in manual mills, CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes wherever a finished hole diameter of 0.3438 inch is required. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in a drill chuck or collet holder, making tool changes straightforward in production and job-shop environments. Typical applications include finishing holes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar hard materials where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. It is not configured as an over/under size or dowel pin reamer, so it is intended for standard on-size finishing work.
Designed as an on-size chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank; intended for finishing holes to 0.3438 inch diameter in ferrous and similar hard materials.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet before use and confirm runout is within acceptable limits before cutting. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Do not use a reamer to remove excess stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of final diameter before reaming.
