The VALUE COLLECTION SM0407910 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to a precise 0.7910-inch diameter. With a straight flute geometry and a bright, uncoated surface finish, this reamer is suited for right-hand cutting in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 9.5-inch overall length and 2.5-inch flute length provide adequate reach for through-holes and moderate-depth blind holes. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in a standard drill chuck or collet chuck on a drill press, lathe, or milling machine. Machinists and toolroom technicians rely on this style of reamer to bring bored holes to final tolerance in production and maintenance environments.
This chucking reamer is used in machine shop, toolroom, and maintenance-repair-operations (MRO) settings where a 0.7910-inch finish bore is required. It is appropriate for use on drill presses, turret lathes, milling machines, and similar machine tool setups where the workpiece is held stationary and the reamer is driven by the spindle. Straight-flute chucking reamers of this size are commonly applied when reaming bearing bores, bushing seats, and precision pin-fit holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and brass.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool spindle that accepts a straight-cylindrical shank of this diameter class, including drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a compatible chuck or collet.
Chucking reamers are installed and removed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per OSHA lockout-tagout procedures. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck or collet before starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore finish quality. Never rotate a reamer in reverse, as reverse rotation dulls the cutting edges rapidly.
