The VALUE COLLECTION SM0407240 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal machining applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers accurate sizing to a 0.7240-inch diameter. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in drill chucks or collets on manual or CNC equipment. With an overall length of 9.5 inches and a 2.5-inch flute length, it suits both through-hole and blind-hole finishing where tight tolerances are required. Cutting direction is right-hand. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this reamer for final-pass sizing after drilling or boring.
This chucking reamer is suited for light-to-medium duty finishing in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. It falls within the 0.7000 to 0.9999-inch diameter range category and is appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a smooth, dimensionally accurate bore finish is needed. The 6-flute straight configuration supports consistent chip evacuation and surface finish across a range of spindle speeds. It is sold individually and is compatible with standard drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with an appropriate chuck or collet.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, engine lathes, and milling machines equipped with a drill chuck or collet capable of holding a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.7000 to 0.9999-inch diameter class.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists using a drill chuck or collet holder mounted to a lathe tailstock, drill press, or milling machine spindle. Power down the machine and confirm the spindle is fully stopped before changing tooling. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Never use a chucking reamer to remove more material than the application requires — pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of final size before reaming.
