The VALUE COLLECTION SM0406820 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal and other rigid materials. Ground from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers accurate sizing of drilled or bored holes to a finished diameter of 0.6820 inches. At 9 inches overall length with a 2.25-inch flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank, it mounts directly in a drill chuck, collet, or machine spindle. Right-hand cutting geometry makes it suited for conventional CNC machining centers, lathes, and manual drill presses. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians reach for chucking reamers when a drilled hole must meet tight dimensional and surface-finish requirements.
This reamer is appropriate for general-purpose reaming operations in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. Typical applications include finishing holes for press-fit pins, bearing seats, and close-tolerance fastener clearances in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank allows secure grip in standard drill chucks and ER collet systems without adapter hardware. The 0.6820-inch diameter falls within the 0.5000 to 0.6999-inch reamer diameter range and is a standard decimal size used where fractional reamers do not meet the required finished dimension.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, manual mills, lathes, and drill presses equipped with a standard drill chuck or collet system accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at the 0.6820-inch finished diameter range.
Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the reamer. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet to prevent slippage under cutting load. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Do not attempt to use a chucking reamer to remove large amounts of stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of the finished diameter before reaming.
