The VALUE COLLECTION SM0406580 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-ream holes to a precise 0.6580-inch diameter in a wide range of metalworking applications. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent cutting performance in general-purpose machine shop and production environments. The reamer measures 9 inches in overall length with a 2.25-inch flute length and mounts via a straight-cylindrical shank for secure chuck or collet holding. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. This tool is sized for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines operated by machinists and toolroom professionals.
This chucking reamer is suited for finishing pre-drilled or bored holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The straight-flute geometry makes it particularly effective in through-hole applications where chip evacuation is straightforward. At 0.6580 inches, the reamer falls within the 0.5000-to-0.6999-inch decimal-inch diameter range, a common sizing tier for precision hole finishing in fixture plates, bushings, and mechanical components. It is intended for machine use rather than hand reaming, requiring a rigid, powered spindle for best results.
Designed as a general-purpose machine chucking reamer compatible with drill presses, engine lathes, and milling machines equipped with chucks or collets sized to accept a straight-cylindrical shank at 0.6580-inch nominal diameter.
A licensed machinist or toolroom operator should power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or removing the reamer from the chuck or collet. The reamer requires a properly sized pilot hole, typically drilled 0.005 to 0.015 inches undersize, before reaming to final diameter — do not ream from solid stock. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain hole finish. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck or collet to prevent runout, which will degrade hole size and surface finish.
