The VALUE COLLECTION SM0405850 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-size drilled or bored holes to a precise 0.5850-inch diameter. Machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent dimensional accuracy in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in drill chucks or collet holders for repeatable runout control. With an overall length of 8 inches and a 2-inch flute length, this reamer suits through-hole and short blind-hole applications in production and job-shop environments. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
This chucking reamer is suited for use in machining centers, engine lathes, drill presses, and manual or CNC turret setups where a driven, chucked tool is preferred over a hand reamer. It is appropriate for finishing holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass, and similar materials where a close-tolerance bore is required. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians are the typical end users. The 0.5850-inch diameter falls within the 0.5000 to 0.6999-inch reamer diameter range.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in any machine tool capable of holding a straight-cylindrical shank tool, including drill presses, lathes, and machining centers requiring a 0.5850-inch finished hole diameter.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists in powered machine tools. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a drill chuck or precision collet before operation, and verify runout before cutting. Always reduce spindle speed relative to drilling and feed at a consistent rate to prevent chatter and bell-mouthing. Pre-drill or bore the hole to the appropriate undersize before reaming, leaving only the recommended stock allowance for the reamer to remove.
