The VALUE COLLECTION SM0405810 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to bring bored or drilled holes to a precise finished diameter. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers accurate sizing in ferrous and non-ferrous metals on the drill press, lathe, or CNC machining center. The reamer measures 0.5810 inches in diameter with an 8-inch overall length and a 2-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders. Right-hand cutting direction follows conventional feed practice. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians use this reamer where hole tolerances are tighter than drilling alone can hold.
This reamer is suited for finish-reaming operations in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. The 0.5810-inch diameter falls within the 0.5000 to 0.6999-inch decimal-inch range, making it appropriate for precision-fit applications such as dowel-pin holes, bearing bores, and bushing installations where close tolerances on hole diameter are required. The straight flute geometry works well in through-holes and shorter blind-hole applications on materials that cut cleanly without galling.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool accepting a straight-cylindrical shank, including drill presses, engine lathes, turret lathes, and CNC machining centers with a compatible chuck or collet holder.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians. Before mounting, confirm the shank is clean and the chuck or collet is free of chips that could cause runout. Always run a reamer at a lower spindle speed than the equivalent drill diameter and use a suitable cutting fluid matched to the workpiece material. Never reverse a reamer under power, as back-cutting will damage the cutting edges.
