The VALUE COLLECTION SM0405660 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to a precise 0.5660-inch diameter. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers reliable cutting performance across a broad range of workpiece materials including mild steel, aluminum, brass, and plastics. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in a drill chuck or collet on a drill press, lathe, or CNC machine. With an overall length of 8 inches and a 2-inch flute length, the tool reaches deep enough for most standard through-hole and shallow blind-hole applications. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this tool.
This reamer is suited for production and maintenance environments where holes must be brought to a tight tolerance finish diameter. It is used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and general metalworking operations. The 0.5660-inch diameter falls within the 0.5000 to 0.6999 inch reamer range, making it a practical choice for applications requiring a precise fit between a shaft, pin, or fastener and a reamed bore. No special adapter is required when chucking in standard drill press or lathe tailstock tooling.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, engine lathes, turret lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with a drill chuck or collet capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at the 0.5660-inch diameter range.
A licensed machinist or trained toolroom technician should install and operate this reamer. Always secure the workpiece firmly before beginning the reaming operation, and ensure the machine spindle and tool are properly aligned to avoid bell-mouthing or taper in the finished hole. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Never run a reamer in reverse, as this dulls the cutting edges.
