The VALUE COLLECTION SM0400850 is a chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to a precise 0.0850-inch diameter. Machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer maintains sharp cutting edges across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 4-flute straight-flute geometry provides consistent chip evacuation and smooth bore finishes in through-hole and blind-hole applications. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in a drill chuck or collet, making setup fast and repeatable. It is a standard stock item for machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians who need reliable hole-finishing at small diameters.
This reamer is suited for small-diameter finish reaming in manual mills, drill presses, CNC machining centers, and lathes. It covers applications in light manufacturing, maintenance and repair operations (MRO), and toolroom work where tight hole tolerances are required. The 0.0850-inch diameter falls within the 0.0500 to 0.0999-inch decimal inch range, making it appropriate for small precision bores in fixtures, dies, and machine components. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in drill presses, manual mills, CNC machining centers, and lathes equipped with standard drill chucks or collet systems accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at this diameter range.
Chucking reamers should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet before operation, and verify runout before cutting. Always ream at reduced spindle speeds compared to drilling, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material. Never use a reamer to remove excessive stock — drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of final size before reaming.
