The VALUE COLLECTION SM01N0047 is a straight-flute chucking reamer ground to No. 47 wire size, equivalent to 0.0785 inches in diameter. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this 4-flute reamer is designed for precision hole finishing in metal workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in a drill chuck or collet, making it ready to run on a drill press, lathe, or CNC machine without an adapter. At 3 inches overall length with a 3/4-inch flute length, it handles shallow reaming passes in tight access situations. Right-hand cutting direction suits standard spindle rotation. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians use this style of reamer when close hole tolerances are required after drilling.
This reamer is suited for light-production and maintenance machining environments where small-diameter holes must be brought to a consistent, finished size. Typical applications include bearing fits, pin holes, and instrument component bores in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The HSS construction handles intermittent cuts and moderate feed rates without chipping under normal shop conditions. No. 47 wire-gauge sizing makes this reamer a standard selection when a 0.0785-inch finished hole diameter is called out on a print.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, mills, and CNC machining centers equipped with a chuck or collet capable of gripping a straight-cylindrical shank at the appropriate diameter.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists following standard machine-shop practices. Secure the shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the tolerance required. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Never use a reamer to enlarge a hole more than a few thousandths of an inch beyond the drilled size — pre-drill or bore to near-final diameter before reaming.
