The VALUE COLLECTION SC70574611 is a 12-inch American-pattern flat file designed for general-purpose metal removal and surface finishing in machine shop and fabrication environments. Built with a double cut pattern at bastard cut coarseness, it removes stock efficiently while leaving a reasonably smooth surface. The file measures 15/32 inches wide and 9/32 inches thick, with a tang end that accepts a standard file handle. It is a rigid, non-flexible file suited for work on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this type of file.
This file is well suited for machining and general metalworking applications including deburring, edge breaking, flat surface smoothing, and fitting work on castings or machined components. The bastard cut coarseness makes it a practical first-pass tool before moving to finer cuts. It is a shop staple for production environments and maintenance toolrooms alike, and it is sold individually as a single-piece unit.
Designed as a standard American-pattern flat file compatible with any conventional file handle sized for a 12-inch tang file.
File handles are sold separately and should be seated firmly on the tang before use to prevent hand injury from an exposed tang point. Secure the workpiece in a vise or fixture before filing to maintain control and consistent stroke angle. Files should not be used on hardened steel surfaces harder than the file itself, as this will rapidly dull the teeth. Store files individually or with tooth protectors to prevent contact damage between tools.
