The VALUE COLLECTION SC2090148 is a 6-flute countersink designed for right-hand cutting in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it produces clean, accurate chamfered holes at a 90-degree included angle (45-degree centerline angle). The 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank provides secure tool holder engagement, and the 1-3/4-inch head diameter handles countersinking operations across a wide range of fastener sizes. This is a single-end tool with no pilot included. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this type of countersink in drill press and milling setups where consistent, repeatable chamfer geometry is required.
This countersink is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where 90-degree fastener seating is the standard. It is commonly used when preparing holes to accept flat-head screws, rivets, or other flush-mount fasteners in steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The 6-flute geometry reduces chatter and produces a smoother finish compared to fewer-flute designs, making it appropriate for close-tolerance work in both shop and field settings.
Designed as a general-purpose countersink compatible with standard drill presses, milling machines, and CNC setups accepting a 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Intended for countersinking operations in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials using 90-degree fastener geometry.
Install in a drill press, mill, or lathe tailstock using a chuck or collet rated for the 1-inch shank diameter. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before beginning the cut. Run at appropriate spindle speeds for the workpiece material — higher speeds suit aluminum while lower speeds are recommended for harder steels. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use; a dull countersink produces poor chamfer geometry and accelerates tool breakage.
