The VALUE COLLECTION SC0850154 is a high-speed steel Morse taper core drill designed for enlarging or finishing existing holes in metal and similar materials. Built with a 5MT shank taper, this drill mounts securely in compatible Morse taper spindles and drill press quills. The cutting diameter is 1-27/32 inches (1.8438 inches decimal), and the four-flute geometry provides a stable, accurate cut with reduced chatter. An oxide finish helps resist wear and heat buildup during extended cutting operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this style of drill.
Core drills of this type are used in machine shop environments for chamfering, countersinking, or finishing cored, punched, or pre-drilled holes to a precise diameter. The right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction make this drill compatible with standard rotating spindle setups. With an overall length of 17-1/8 inches and a flute length of 10-1/8 inches, the SC0850154 is suited for deep-reach applications where a shorter drill would not clear the workpiece or fixture.
Designed for use with machine tool spindles, drill presses, and lathes equipped with a No. 5 Morse taper socket.
This drill is installed by a machinist or tool operator into a No. 5 Morse taper spindle socket. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is de-energized before seating or removing the taper shank. Clean both the shank and socket of chips or debris before mounting to ensure full taper contact. Secure the workpiece in a vise or fixture before beginning the cut to prevent rotation or movement.
