The VALUE COLLECTION SC0840106 is a high-speed steel Morse taper core drill designed for enlarging existing holes in metal, castings, and similar materials. With a 1-3/32 inch (1.0938 inch decimal) cutting diameter, four flutes, and an oxide finish, this drill delivers controlled material removal in applications where a standard twist drill is not appropriate. The 4MT shank seats directly into compatible Morse taper spindles on drill presses and lathes. Overall length is 12-1/2 inches, making it suitable for reaching into deeper workpieces. Machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this tool.
This core drill is used in metalworking shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production environments where hole quality and concentricity matter. The right-hand cutting, right-hand spiral configuration is the standard for conventional machining operations. The 118-degree included angle is suited for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 6-7/8 inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance on deeper cuts. It is not intended as a primary hole-opening drill; it is used to refine, enlarge, or finish an existing cored or drilled hole.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a No. 4 Morse taper spindle or sleeve. Intended for enlarging pre-existing holes; a pilot hole or cored hole must be present before use.
This tool is installed and used by machinists and maintenance mechanics operating drill presses or lathes with Morse taper spindles. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before seating or removing the taper shank. Clean both the shank and the spindle bore of chips and oil before inserting to ensure proper taper engagement and prevent runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve hole finish.
