The VALUE COLLECTION SC0830102 is a high-speed steel Morse taper core drill designed for enlarging existing holes in metal, plastic, and similar materials. The 4-flute geometry distributes cutting load evenly, reducing chatter and improving hole finish compared to standard 2-flute designs. At 1-1/32 inches (1.0313 inches decimal) in drill bit size with an 11-1/8-inch overall length, this tool handles deep-reach applications where a standard jobber drill cannot reach. An oxide coating provides basic corrosion resistance and reduces friction at the cutting edge. The right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with standard drill press and lathe spindle rotation. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This core drill is suited for use in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and industrial production environments. The 3MT (No. 3 Morse Taper) shank seats directly into drill press quills, lathes, and milling machine spindles fitted with a matching Morse taper socket. The 6-1/2-inch flute length accommodates through-hole work on thicker workpieces. A 118-degree included angle is a general-purpose geometry appropriate for a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This tool is typically used when a pre-drilled or cast pilot hole already exists and the goal is to bring the bore to final size with improved surface finish and roundness.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a No. 3 Morse Taper spindle socket. Suitable as a general-purpose core drill for enlarging existing holes in a range of metal and plastic workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with machine tool operation. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the taper shank. Clean both the shank taper and the spindle socket before insertion to ensure full contact and prevent fretting. A drawbar or drift key should be used per the machine manufacturer's procedure to seat and release the taper securely.
