The VALUE COLLECTION SC0830058 is a high-speed steel Morse taper core drill designed for enlarging or finishing pre-existing holes in metal and other hard materials. With a 29/32-inch (0.9063 inch decimal) cutting diameter and a 4-flute geometry, this drill delivers smooth chip evacuation and a cleaner bore finish compared to standard twist drills. The oxide coating improves surface hardness and reduces friction during cutting. At 10.75 inches overall length with a 6.125-inch flute length, it suits deep-reach drilling applications on drill presses and milling machines. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance professionals are the typical end users.
This core drill is suited for machine shop, industrial maintenance, and metalworking environments where an existing pilot hole or cored opening requires reaming or enlargement to a precise 29/32-inch diameter. The No. 3 Morse taper shank seats directly into compatible drill press quills or lathe tailstocks without a separate chuck, providing rigid concentricity for accurate results. Right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with standard CW-spindle machines.
Designed for use in drill presses, milling machines, and lathe tailstocks equipped with a No. 3 Morse taper (3MT) socket. Core drills of this type require a pre-existing pilot hole and are not intended for solid-stock drilling from scratch.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with rotating cutting tools. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the taper shank. Clean both the shank taper and the machine socket before insertion to ensure full seating and prevent runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and verify spindle speed is appropriate for the diameter and material before starting the cut.
