Product Description

The VALUE COLLECTION SC0820044 is a high-speed steel Morse taper core drill designed for enlarging existing holes to precise diameters in metal fabrication and machining applications. At 11/16 inch (0.6875 inch) in diameter and 9.25 inches overall length, this 4-flute drill delivers smooth, controlled cutting action with right-hand spiral geometry and a standard 118-degree included angle. The oxide coating provides added surface hardness and helps reduce friction during cutting. A size 2MT shank seats directly into compatible Morse taper spindles without an adapter. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and metalworking shops will find this drill ready to run on manual or CNC machines with a matching taper socket.

This core drill is suited for through-hole finishing, spot-facing preparation, and reaming-adjacent operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 4-flute configuration distributes cutting load evenly, reduces chatter, and leaves a cleaner hole wall than a standard 2-flute twist drill. With a 5.375-inch flute length, it handles moderate stack depths and interrupted cuts common in plate and structural work. A right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation on most machine tools in production and job-shop environments.

Key Features

  • High-speed steel construction withstands heat generated during high-feed metalcutting
  • 4-flute design reduces chatter and improves hole-wall finish compared to 2-flute drills
  • Size 2MT shank mounts directly in standard Morse taper spindles and drill press quills
  • Oxide finish reduces surface friction and provides corrosion resistance in storage
  • 118-degree included angle suits general-purpose drilling in steel, cast iron, and aluminum
  • Right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction compatible with conventional machine rotation

Compatibility

Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and machining centers equipped with a No. 2 Morse taper spindle or sleeve. Suitable for enlarging cored, punched, or pre-drilled holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool-room technicians. Before mounting, de-energize and lock out the machine spindle per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Clean the Morse taper shank and spindle socket of chips, oil, and burrs before seating to ensure full contact and prevent shank slippage. Do not use this core drill as a primary twist drill in solid stock, as core drills require a pilot hole.
