The VALUE COLLECTION SC0820038 is a high-speed steel Morse taper core drill designed for enlarging and finishing pre-existing holes in metal and other hard materials. With a 19/32-inch (0.5938-inch decimal) cutting diameter and four flutes, it produces clean, accurate bores with reduced heat buildup compared to standard twist drills. The 2MT shank seats directly into compatible Morse taper spindles on drill presses and lathes, eliminating the need for a separate chuck. An oxide coating improves surface hardness and provides mild lubricity during cutting. The 118-degree included angle suits general-purpose metalworking applications. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This core drill is suited for machine shop, maintenance, and fabrication environments where holes must be trued, enlarged, or finished to close tolerances. The four-flute geometry distributes cutting load evenly and resists deflection, making it appropriate for through-holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. The right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction are standard for conventional spindle rotation on drill presses and milling machines. At 8-3/4 inches overall length with a 4-7/8-inch flute length, it reaches into deeper workpieces than a standard short-series drill.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a No. 2 Morse taper (2MT) spindle or sleeve. Suitable for enlarging and finishing pre-drilled holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified maintenance personnel. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the taper shank. Clean the spindle bore and shank taper of chips and oil before insertion to ensure full taper contact. A proper draw bar or drift may be required for secure seating and safe removal; do not strike the shank or spindle to force engagement.
