The VALUE COLLECTION S160NB06040 is a Schedule 160 black steel pipe nipple designed for high-pressure piping systems where wall thickness and mechanical strength are critical. Measuring 1 inch in diameter and 4 inches in length, this nipple features threaded ends for direct connection to fittings, valves, and pipe sections. Schedule 160 wall construction provides significantly greater pressure tolerance than standard Schedule 40 or 80 pipe, making it appropriate for demanding industrial, mechanical, and process piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically specify this nipple where elevated pressure ratings or reduced flow-bore requirements are part of the system design.
This nipple is suited for use in commercial and industrial piping systems where Schedule 160 wall thickness is specified by the engineer or required by code. Common install scenarios include high-pressure steam lines, hydraulic piping runs, chemical process lines, and compressed gas headers. The black steel construction makes it compatible with applications where galvanized coatings are not required or not permitted. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1 inch Schedule 160 threaded piping systems in commercial and industrial mechanical applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes, including ASME B31.1 or B31.3 as required by the system classification. Depressurize and isolate the affected piping segment completely before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before make-up, and use a properly sized pipe wrench to achieve full thread engagement without over-stressing the fitting. Inspect threads for damage before installation.
