The VALUE COLLECTION R63640446 is a 5/16-18 carriage bolt with a 3/4-inch length under the head, manufactured from 18-8 stainless steel with a bright uncoated finish. The square neck beneath the round domed head locks into a mating square hole or bites into wood to prevent rotation during installation, eliminating the need for a wrench on the bolt side. This fastener follows Unified National Coarse (UNC) thread standards and the inch system of measurement. It is suited for structural and mechanical assemblies where corrosion resistance is a priority. Trades including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general construction install this type of bolt in applications where a flush, clean head presentation is required.
This carriage bolt is used in light structural connections, equipment mounting, and wood-to-metal or metal-to-metal assemblies. The 18-8 stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for outdoor, wet, or corrosive environments where standard zinc-plated or plain steel hardware would degrade. Common install scenarios include strut channel assemblies, pool and spa equipment mounting, fence hardware, and similar trade applications that demand lasting corrosion resistance without a protective coating that could flake or wear.
Designed as a standard 5/16-18 UNC carriage bolt suitable for use with any 5/16-18 UNC hex nut, coupling nut, or threaded insert in inch-standard fastener applications.
Insert the bolt through a pre-drilled or punched hole sized to allow the square neck to seat flush, preventing rotation as the nut is torqued from the opposite side. Use a standard hex wrench or socket on the nut side only — no tool is needed or recommended on the domed head. Power down or de-energize any associated equipment before working in panel enclosures or electrical strut assemblies. Follow applicable codes for the trade and application, including NEC requirements when fastening within electrical installations.
