The VALUE COLLECTION R63006442 is a 1/4-20 x 1 inch cup point set screw manufactured from Grade 18-8 stainless steel. Set screws are fully threaded fasteners with no head, designed to seat flush or below a surface to secure a component — such as a collar, gear, or pulley — against a shaft or mating part. The cup point digs into the mating surface to resist rotation and axial movement. The square drive recess accepts a square-drive key for high-torque installation without fastener damage. Grade 18-8 stainless steel provides corrosion resistance suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. This fastener follows Unified National Coarse (UNC) thread standards. Length is measured under the head, which on a headless set screw equals full body length.
Cup point set screws in 1/4-20 UNC are a common fastener in mechanical assemblies across HVAC equipment, pump and motor shafts, plumbing valve handles, electrical enclosure hardware, and general industrial applications. They are installed by maintenance technicians, pipefitters, millwrights, and HVAC mechanics during equipment assembly or service. Stainless steel construction makes this fastener appropriate for installations where corrosion resistance or material compatibility with stainless components is required.
Designed for use in any standard 1/4-20 UNC tapped hole requiring a cup point set screw in Grade 18-8 stainless steel construction.
Installation requires a correctly sized square-drive key; using an incorrect or worn key risks rounding the drive recess. De-energize and lock out all equipment before installing or removing set screws on motor shafts, pulleys, or couplings per applicable LOTO procedures. Do not exceed the torque capacity of the drive recess — if the fastener does not seat fully under hand-tool torque, verify thread engagement and hole cleanliness before applying additional force. Consult applicable mechanical codes and equipment service documentation for minimum thread engagement requirements.
