The VALUE COLLECTION R57500212 is a 1-1/4-7 UNC hex lock nut with a nylon insert locking mechanism, manufactured from grade 18-8 stainless steel with a bright, uncoated finish. The nylon insert compresses against the thread flanks to resist loosening under vibration and thermal cycling without damaging the mating fastener. At 1-25/64 inches high and 1-13/16 inches across the flats, this is a heavy-duty fastener suited for industrial, mechanical, and plumbing or HVAC structural assemblies. Licensed mechanics, millwrights, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians working with stainless fasteners in corrosion-prone or high-vibration environments typically specify this nut.
This hex lock nut is commonly used in applications where standard carbon steel fasteners would corrode or where thread-locking adhesive is impractical. Typical install scenarios include mounting HVAC equipment frames, pump assemblies, piping supports, and mechanical enclosures exposed to moisture, mild chemicals, or outdoor environments. The right-hand thread direction is standard for the vast majority of mechanical assemblies. The bright uncoated finish retains the natural corrosion resistance of 18-8 stainless without added surface treatments that could interfere with torque values in precision assemblies.
Designed as a standard UNC inch-series hex lock nut for use with 1-1/4-7 right-hand threaded bolts and studs in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and industrial structural assemblies.
Installation requires a standard hex wrench or socket sized for 1-13/16 inches across the flats. Power down or de-energize any equipment before accessing fastener assemblies on live systems. Follow applicable mechanical and structural codes for torque procedures on stainless fasteners, as 18-8 stainless is susceptible to galling if run down too quickly or without lubrication. Do not use impact drivers at high speed on stainless lock nuts, as this increases galling risk and can damage the nylon insert.
