The VALUE COLLECTION R52001707 is a 5/8-11 carriage bolt with a 5-inch length under head, designed for general structural fastening applications. Manufactured from 1006/1050 steel with a galvanized zinc finish, this bolt provides corrosion resistance in exposed or outdoor installations. The square neck under the domed head locks the bolt against rotation when drawn into wood or soft material, eliminating the need for a wrench on the bolt side during tightening. Fully threaded along its entire shank, it conforms to ASME B18.5 standards and uses the Unified National Coarse thread form. Plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and general contractors reach for carriage bolts when assembling equipment supports, brackets, wood framing, and utility structures.
This carriage bolt is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a smooth, rounded head finish is required on the exposed face of an assembly. Typical uses include securing equipment mounting boards, wood-to-wood connections, pipe support structures, electrical panel backing boards, and similar utility fastening tasks. The galvanized zinc finish extends service life in damp mechanical rooms, outdoor enclosures, and other environments where bare steel would corrode. The 5/8-11 UNC thread size is compatible with standard hex nuts and washers in the same thread specification.
Designed as a standard ASME B18.5 inch-series carriage bolt compatible with 5/8-11 UNC hex nuts, coupling nuts, and washers used in general structural and mechanical fastening assemblies.
Insert the bolt through a pre-drilled hole sized to allow the square neck to seat and bite into the surrounding material, preventing rotation. Tighten the mating nut with a standard wrench or socket; no tool is required on the bolt head. Follow applicable building codes and torque guidelines for the connected materials and load requirements. Inspect the galvanized finish for damage before installation in corrosive or submerged environments and replace any bolt showing coating compromise.
