The VALUE COLLECTION R52001681 is a nylon insert hex lock nut designed for use in general mechanical fastening applications. Manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish, it measures 5/32 inches in height with a 1/4-inch width across the flats. The nylon insert creates friction against the mating thread to resist loosening from vibration or torque without requiring a secondary locking device. This fastener follows Unified National Coarse (UNC) thread standards and features a right-hand thread direction. It is commonly installed by millwrights, maintenance technicians, HVAC installers, plumbers, and general contractors wherever a reliable, reusable locking fastener is required on inch-system hardware.
This hex lock nut is suited for light- to medium-duty assembly and maintenance work in residential and commercial settings. Typical applications include equipment mounting, structural bracketing, ductwork support hardware, pipe hanger assemblies, and general mechanical subassembly work. The zinc-plated finish provides basic corrosion resistance for indoor and sheltered outdoor use. The UNC thread standard makes this nut compatible with widely available bolts and threaded rod stock found across trade applications. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 100 pieces.
Designed as a standard UNC inch-system nylon insert hex lock nut compatible with Grade 2 or higher bolts and threaded rod in the corresponding thread size and pitch.
Installation requires a standard open-end, box-end, or socket wrench sized to the 1/4-inch width across flats. Nylon insert lock nuts are intended for single or limited reuse — the locking torque of the nylon insert decreases with each removal and reinstallation cycle. Always de-energize or depressurize any system before accessing fasteners on live mechanical or electrical assemblies. Follow applicable mechanical and structural codes for torque and fastener grade requirements on safety-critical joints.
