The VALUE COLLECTION R52001620 is a heavy hex lock nut with a nylon insert, designed to resist loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. It is sized for 1/2-13 UNC threaded fasteners and manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish for basic corrosion resistance. The nylon insert engages the bolt threads to create a prevailing-torque locking action without the need for additional locking hardware. At 45/64 inches in height and 7/8 inches across the flats, this nut meets standard heavy hex dimensional requirements. It is installed by electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general maintenance trades wherever vibration-resistant fastening is required.
This hex lock nut is suited for general industrial and mechanical assembly applications where UNC 1/2-13 threaded connections must be secured against loosening. Typical uses include equipment mounting, bracket fastening, pipe support systems, conduit hangers, and structural assemblies in both commercial and residential construction. The right-hand thread direction is standard for most threaded rod, bolt, and stud configurations used in trade applications.
Designed as a standard replacement or general-purpose hex lock nut for 1/2-13 UNC threaded fasteners in inch-measurement assemblies across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC applications.
Installation is performed by hand-threading onto a compatible 1/2-13 UNC fastener, then tightening with an open-end or box wrench sized for a 7/8-inch flat-to-flat dimension. Ensure the mating bolt or stud threads are clean and free of damage before installation, as debris can compromise the nylon insert's locking performance. The nylon insert is a single-use locking element and should not be reused after removal in critical applications. Follow applicable ASME or project specification torque requirements for the fastener grade and joint type.
