The VALUE COLLECTION R52001055 is a 1/4-20 UNC thread cutting screw designed for fastening into metal and other hard materials without a pre-tapped hole. The screw features a pan head with a No. 3 Phillips drive and a Type F point, which uses a blunt, tapered end with cutting flutes to form mating threads on installation. Manufactured from AISI 1016-1024 steel and finished with a zinc plating for corrosion resistance, this screw measures 1-1/4 inches in length under the head. It meets dimensional and performance standards including ASME B18.6.3, ASME B18.6.4, and SAE J933.
This screw is suited for assembly and maintenance applications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general sheet metal work where threading into unthreaded material is required. The Type F point is commonly used in light-gauge steel, die castings, and similar substrates. It is typically installed by HVAC technicians, electricians, and mechanical contractors during equipment assembly, panel mounting, or field fabrication. This SKU ships as a single screw; minimum order quantity is 100 units.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style thread cutting fastener suitable for light-gauge steel panels, equipment enclosures, and fabricated assemblies requiring a 1/4-20 UNC thread.
Installation is performed with a No. 3 Phillips bit using a power driver or hand screwdriver. A pilot hole sized appropriately for the substrate material and screw diameter should be drilled before driving to prevent material distortion. Avoid over-torquing, which can strip the formed threads in thin or soft materials. Ensure the mating material thickness is sufficient to develop adequate thread engagement for the intended load.
