The VALUE COLLECTION R52000948 is a No. 10 self drilling screw with a hex washer head and hex drive, designed to drill its own pilot hole and fasten sheet metal, light steel framing, or similar substrates without a pre-drilled hole. The screw measures 1.25 inches in length under the head and features a No. 3 drill point rated for light-gauge steel penetration. Constructed from Grade 1016/1024 steel with a zinc-plated finish, this fastener resists corrosion in standard indoor and light-duty outdoor applications. Sold in a minimum order quantity of 100 pieces per package, this screw is well suited for production work, mechanical contractors, and sheet metal tradespeople who require a reliable, consistent fastener in bulk.
This screw is commonly used in HVAC ductwork assembly, light-gauge steel stud framing, electrical enclosure mounting, and general sheet metal fabrication. The hex washer head provides a broad bearing surface that resists pull-through, and the hex drive allows for use with a standard nut driver or hex-bit driver. The No. 3 drill point is appropriate for steel substrates up to approximately the gauge range typically encountered in HVAC duct systems and equipment panels. This fastener is an inch-system component conforming to ASME B18.6.3 and SAE J78 standards.
Designed as a standard inch-system self drilling screw for use in light-gauge steel sheet metal applications including HVAC ductwork, equipment panels, and structural steel framing where a No. 10 hex washer head fastener is specified.
Installation is performed with a hex-bit driver or nut driver at controlled speed to avoid overdriving and stripping the drill point. Power down or de-energize any equipment panel before fastening into live enclosures. Follow applicable SMACNA duct construction standards or project specifications for fastener spacing and seating torque. Do not reuse self drilling screws once removed, as the drill point and thread engagement are compromised on reuse.
