The VALUE COLLECTION R40318401 is a 10-32 x 1/2 inch cup point set screw made from Grade 18-8 stainless steel. Set screws are fully threaded fasteners with no head, designed to secure a component — such as a collar, pulley, or gear — against a shaft by applying direct clamping force through a recessed drive. This screw uses a 3/32 inch hex (Allen) drive and a cup point tip, which bites into the mating surface to resist rotational and axial movement. The 10-32 UNF thread designation indicates a number 10 diameter with 32 threads per inch, a fine-thread standard common in instrument, HVAC control, and light mechanical assemblies. Grade 18-8 stainless steel provides corrosion resistance suitable for both indoor and mildly corrosive outdoor environments.
This set screw is used across a wide range of trade applications, including HVAC equipment assembly, electrical enclosure hardware, pump and motor shaft collars, and general mechanical maintenance. The cup point profile is the most common set screw tip type and is appropriate where a permanent or semi-permanent bite into a shaft is acceptable. Fine-thread UNF fasteners like the 10-32 are frequently found in factory-assembled components and are the correct replacement spec when matching original hardware on control assemblies, fan hubs, and similar equipment. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 100 units.
Designed as a standard replacement or maintenance fastener for any application requiring a 10-32 UNF x 1/2 inch cup point set screw with a 3/32 inch hex drive.
Set screws are installed by mechanics, HVAC technicians, and electricians using a 3/32 inch hex key or Allen bit driver. Always de-energize and lock out equipment before servicing any shaft or rotating assembly. Tighten to snug engagement against the shaft — avoid over-driving, which can strip the hex socket or deform the cup point. For critical shaft retention, follow equipment manufacturer torque guidance where provided in the service documentation.
