The VALUE COLLECTION NS06264865 is an O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat stock bar used in toolmaking, die work, punch fabrication, and precision machining applications. Measuring 0.5 inches thick, 0.75 inches wide, and 36 inches long, it is manufactured to AISI Type O1 material specification with tight dimensional tolerances throughout. Thickness tolerance is held to plus or minus 0.001 inches, width tolerance is plus 0.005 inches and minus 0.000 inches, and length tolerance is plus 0.5 inches. O1 tool steel is a general-purpose, oil-quenched grade known for its machinability in the annealed state and its ability to hold a sharp edge after hardening. Machinists, toolmakers, and metalworking shops are the primary users of this stock.
This flat stock is suited for fabricating cutting tools, punches, dies, gauges, and jigs in job shops and production toolrooms. The 36-inch bar length provides a workable starting blank that can be cut to net length before heat treatment. The 0.5 inches by 0.75 inches cross section is a commonly stocked size for small-tool and fixture work. It ships as a single bar at a package quantity of one, making it practical for low-volume toolroom replenishment or prototype work. No finish machining of the bar itself is required for most rough-profiling operations prior to hardening.
Designed as a general-purpose O1 tool steel flat stock blank suitable for use in any toolroom, machine shop, or metalworking application requiring an oil-hardening tool steel in a 0.5 inches by 0.75 inches cross section.
Cutting, grinding, and machining of O1 tool steel flat stock should be performed in the annealed condition prior to heat treatment. Heat treating and oil quenching should be carried out by a qualified heat treater following established procedures for AISI O1 tool steel. Appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection and heat-resistant gloves, is required during cutting and hardening operations. Secure the bar firmly in a vise or fixture before machining to prevent movement.
